INTRODUCTION: An Apostolic Pentacostal told me one time that because of 1 Peter 3:20 all those babies went to Hell. A hypercalvinest believes that only the elected, including just the elected babies go to Heaven.
1. What does the Bible say about this?
(Genesis 18:25 KJV) "That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
You know that the Lord will do what is right when it comes to children and grownups that have a mental handicap who haven't come to the age of accountabilty, that is, knowing good and evil. You can teach a two year old that it's wrong to do something, however he isn't sinning against God by doing it anyway.
(Genesis 2:16-17 KJV) "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
(Deuteronomy 1:34-39 KJV) "And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying, Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers, Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD. Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither. But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it."
Notice, the ones that wern't old enough to know the difference between
GOOD and EVIL when they came out of the wilderness,
could go into the promise land.
CHILDREN ARE SAFE UNTIL THEY HAVE A KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL, NOT JUST RIGHT AND WRONG. YOU CAN TEACH A BABY RIGHT AND WRONG, BUT YOU CAN'T TEACH HIM GOOD AND
EVIL. THIS COMES TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT DIFFERENT AGES.
2. Why do some babies die?
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
BECAUSE OF ADAM'S SIN, HE DIED AND WE ALL CAME
FROM ADAM, THEN WE WILL ALL DIE BECAUSE WE ALL SIN. WHATEVER HAPPENED TO
ADAM'S BLOOD WAS PASSED ON TO HIS
DESCENDANTS, THAT'S ALL OF US.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death;
a. What about babies, they don't sin?
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
THEY WERE MADE SINNERS BECAUSE OF ADAM'S SIN, EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T THEIR WAGES THAT CAUSES THEM TO DIE.
3. How do you know babies arn't in Hell then?
Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
HERE ARE SOME PEOPLE THAT THEIR SIN ISN'T ACCOUNTED TO THEM.
Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there
is no transgression.
Romans 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
BABIES ARE NOT ACCOUNTABLE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW.
2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
IF GOD IS NOT WILLING FOR ANY TO PERISH, THEN
IF BABIES DIE AND GO TO HELL, GOD IS RESPONSIBLE, BECAUSE THEY HAD NO OPPORTUNITY
TO BE SAVED. IN OTHER WORDS IF A
CHILD DIES BECAUSE OF ADAM'S SIN, WHICH THEY DO. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin (Adam) entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:19 "For as by one man's (Adam) disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus Christ) shall many be made righteous." THEN HE DIED WITHOUT KNOWINGLY COMMITTING A SIN, THEN HE CAN BE SAVED WITHOUT AN ACT OF RECEIVING JESUS CHRIST. Romans 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
